Board of Commissioners
George N. Copadis, Chair:A 24 year veteran of MHRA’s Board of Commissioners, Mr. Copadis is Commissioner of Labor for the State of New Hampshire. He formerly served as President of New Hampshire’s Workforce Opportunity Council and has been a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral’s Board of Directors for 29 years, including fifteen years as President.
William Cashin, Vice-Chair:Mr. Cashin was appointed to the MHRA Board of Commissioners in 2001. The longest serving alderman in the history of the City of Manchester, he served as Dean of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for the last five years of his 32 year tenure. Mr. Cashin has also served on the Board of Catholic Medical Center and currently serves on the Board of the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority. The City of Manchester honored Mr. Cashin by naming its thriving new community center for seniors the William B. Cashin Activity Center.
M. Mary Mongan, Commissioner:A career human services professional, Ms. Mongan is the former Commissioner of the State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. A Registered Nurse, Ms. Mongan also served as Elliott Hospital Nurse Supervisor, Assistant to the Mayor of the City of Manchester and as MHRA’s Director of Social Services. Ms. Mongan has been an MHRA Commissioner since 2002. Ms. Mongan is the wife of former Manchester Mayor John C. Mongan.
Fern Gelinas, Commissioner:A navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Gelinas is a retired regional manager of the J.J. Nissen Baking Company. As evidenced by his ten years service on Manchester’s Zoning Board, ten years as Alderman, nineteen years as Police Commissioner and three years with Senior Services, Mr. Gelinas has worked tirelessly for the betterment of Manchester and remains deeply committed to civic and charitable involvement.
Marion G. Russell, Commissioner:MHRA’s resident member of the Board of Commissioners, Ms. Russell is a retired Executive Secretary for Pandora Industries, Inc. Her dedication to community service led to her involvement with the Elliott Hospital baby hat knitting program, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the Foster Grandparent Program at Weston School, and MHRA’s Pocketbook Therapy Program. A member, past president and current secretary of the Rebekah Assembly of New Hampshire and Ward Clerk for Ward 3 in Manchester, Ms. Russell was appointed to MHRA’s Board of Commissioners in January, 2007.
